Is 456-2000 basics

5 POINTS FOR IS 456-2000:
 
  • The water to be used in concrete should not have pH value less than 6. (clause 5.4.2 page no-14)
  • Spacer bars should be placed at a maximum spacing of 1 meter and closer spacing sometimes if necessary. (clause 12.3.2 page no-26)
  • Permissible maximum free fall of the concrete may be taken as 1.5meter. ( clause 13.2 page  no-26)
  • The diameter of the Tremie  pipe should not be less than 200mm (clause 14.2.4.a  page no-  28)
  • Lap splices should not be used for the bars larger than 36mm, If so it can be welded. ( clause 26.2.5.1.a page no-45)
THE MINIMUM COVER FOR THE DIFFERENT MEMBERS OF THE STRUCTURE:

 Slab            = 20mm
Beam           = 25mm
Column       = 40mm
Footing       = 50mm
